Will the consulate accept a printed policy?
Over the last 13 years, Bulgarian consulates and embassies have normally accepted printed copies of policies issued by email. However, requirements can change at any time, and we cannot guarantee the practice of a particular consulate or embassy. If you need an original policy with a wet stamp, contact us before ordering so we can arrange delivery.
How should I choose the policy start date?
Choose the policy start date from the date on which you plan to open your D visa. In other words, the insurance should start when the visa becomes usable for your entry and stay in Bulgaria, not simply on the day you submit your visa application.
Do not rely on an assumed processing time for the consulate. Processing times vary by country, visa ground and individual case. If you are uncertain about the date, email us before ordering and tell us your planned visa-opening date.
How long should the policy last?
A Bulgarian D visa is normally issued for six months, so a six-month policy is usually sufficient for the visa application. In rare cases, a consulate may request a different insurance period. Always follow the specific requirement communicated by the consulate handling your application.
One compulsory medical insurance policy may be issued for up to one year. If you need insurance for a longer period, separate consecutive policies can be arranged.
What happens after I order?
- Enter your details exactly as they appear in your passport.
- Choose the policy start date from the planned D-visa opening date.
- After payment and issuance, we send the policy to your email address.
- Print the policy for your visa application, unless the consulate has specifically asked for an original.
